For more than a decade, Tabitha Almquist has been a member of the executive leadership of the National Trust and aided its work of saving historic places. As chief administrative officer, she oversees the key administrative operations, including Human Resources and Information Technology, the real estate needs of the organization at headquarters and in the field offices, and the strategic planning and goal setting processes for the Trust. She provides strategic direction to the Trust by keeping the organization focused on its goals and objectives, identifying opportunities for advancing the President’s vision for the Trust, and anticipating issues and formulating solutions. Tabitha also works with the chief executive officer and chair of the board to direct the work of the Board of Trustees.

Along with coordinating the shared objectives and goals of the executive team, Tabitha has led several Trust-wide programs and initiatives, many designed to address difficult and multifaceted issues. In her role overseeing many of the Trust’s real estate needs, she administered the organization’s headquarters transitions. She has also guided significant restructuring of National Trust programs, ensuring critical and long-standing resources align with the organization’s current priorities. And she is leading the organization’s ongoing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, as well as its cultural change initiatives.

Tabitha grew up in a family of preservationists and considers herself a preservationist from birth. She first joined the National Trust in 2000 and has worked in a wide range of roles including as chief of staff.
